Children's March for the Animals

Children’s March for the Animals on Sunday 4 May will call on Melbourne Zoo officials to abandon its silence on threats posed by the East West toll road and tunnel, and find out the level of risk from noise, vibration, light glare and demolition before the State Government signs a contract.

Mums, dads, family and friends will gather at Princes Park with children in costume, carrying a soft animal toy or with painted faces of their favourite zoo animal for the 500 metre walk to the front entrance of the Zoo. They will then walk to mark the spot where the project comes within 40 metres of the Zoo’s endangered species habitats.

Community volunteers will be handing out information and talking to Zoo visitors at its two main entrances daily leading up to the event.
