Friends of Banyule - public meeting

What the East West Toll Road means for Banyule

Not a fan of the East-West toll road? Think we should be investing in better public transport for Banyule instead? Then this important public meeting is for you.

Come along to learn more about the disastrous impact the East-West toll road (and other tunnels) will have on your community in Banyule and how you can help stop it happening.

This year, we'll make a decision about what sort of city we want to live in. A city overrun with roads, traffic and pollution or a city with world-class public transport with safe roads and green neighbourhoods.

After over 100 years of chatter and promises about a rail line to Doncaster by politicians is it winnable? Environmental problems require immediate actions; measures such as investing in public transport instead of toll roads, freeways and extremely expensive tunnels. Ordinary citizens understand the need for investment in infrastructure that provides solutions for the environmental dilemmas and for local traffic congestion problems but the career politicians are blinded by big, conspicuous but foolhardy projects. How do we shape a future that we can feel both comfortable and proud about?

The state election in November provides Victorians with a real opportunity to influence our politicians and this meeting is your chance to find out how you can have your say!

Guest speakers are Danae Bosler, from the Public Transport Not Traffic campaign, and Mary Merkenich, from the Manningham Council's Rail to Doncaster campaign.
